Domain Authority vs Page Authority – Which is Best?

If you are new to blogging and trying to research about what is domain authority and what is page authority and how both are important to get your content ranked first in Google, then this is the perfect place to learn about both the terms.

I have shared couple of article on domain authority as blogger’s are considering this as one of the key measure while deciding whether a website is good or bad. That means if you have a good DA and PA, then you will get better chance to rank higher in Google and bring more traffic. More traffic means you will be able to attract visitors and visitors convert into money.

In this article I will share about the importance of both domain authority and page authority and how they will impact your blogging. Before proceeding further you can check out the domain authority checker tools online.

What is Domain Authority or DA?

Domain Authority is a score (on a 100-point scale) developed by Moz formally known as SEOMOZ, that predicts how well a website will rank on search engines. Use Domain Authority when comparing one site to another or tracking the “strength” of your website over time. We calculate this metric by combining all of our other link metrics—linking root domains, number of total links, MozRank, MozTrust, etc.—into a single score. What is Page Authority or PA?

Page Authority is a score (on a 100-point scale) developed by Moz that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engines. It is based off data from the Mozscape web index and includes link counts, MozRank, MozTrust, and dozens of other factors. It uses a machine learning model to predictively find an algorithm that best correlates with rankings across the thousands of search results that we predict against. Domain Authority vs Page Authority

Now we have to compare both domain authority & page authority to decide which is best. I think the best way to do so by explaining with some example.

Page authority refer to the authority of a single page. You can link a single page with many other domains with various keyword anchor text and achieve a good page authority. This means that your article will have a good chance to rank higher in Google.

But domain authority can’t be achieved in this way. A website with a higher domain authority means it has a good back-link profile, the website is up for a significant time and earned some trust from visitors. Now if you write an SEO optimize content in your high domain authority website, then it can beat the same article which has a high page authority but a low domain authority.

Thant means, a site with good domain authority can rank all pages well, when a site may have couple of pages with high page authority but a low domain authority will not be able to perform well compared to the other one.

Although there are several ranking factors and DA & PA are 2 of them. But these 2 factors will act like this example we have gone through now. But one should try to increase domain authority by following all blogging best practices. If you have any further doubt about Domain Authority vs Page Authority, then you could write your query in the moz page itself.
